Thankfully, Tambry wasn’t so disconnected from the situation that she’d be busying herself with social media at a time like this. She dropped her phone into her purse and glanced back at Wendy, raising her eyebrows rather nonchalantly for someone staring danger right in the face. It was totally a defense mechanism, her body trembling ever so slightly in fear. “Do you always have to have that thing on you? Kind of bulky, don’t you think?” She glanced back at the boys and tossed her purse somewhat haphazardly, a silent agreement passing between herself and Nate when he caught it. If anything in there gets damaged, you’re going to wish you’d had to deal with these freaks instead of me.
Most days, Tambry would try to utilize some sort of negotiation technique during a conflict. Talking people down was a lot easier than trying to beat them to a pulp, and it certainly fit better with her religious beliefs in peaceful resolution. But these guys were clearly unwilling (and maybe even unable) to communicate, attacking them without warning until they were backed into this little clearing in the woods. This girl was ready for a brawl, ducking down to pick up a somewhat useless flashlight from the ground and preparing to use it as a weapon.
“Don’t suppose you can tell what we’re up against? Thompson’s glow-in-the-dark bracelets don’t exactly provide the best lighting.”
She totally expected that quip from Tambry about her weapon of choice. She gave a casual shrug even as she brandishing her beloved ax. Wendy perhaps wasn’t as scared as she should have been—she was too confident in her own ability. Worst case scenario, she could always attempt to outrun the monsters. “Better safe than sorry, dude. Y'know I never leave the house without Paul.”
Hm, that was a good question. She stared at the slowly approaching horde and quickly realised if they were vampires, they would be dead already. “I think they’re zombies? I can’t see much. They should be easy enough to kill.” She looked over to see Tambry pick up a flashlight from the ground. Wendy couldn’t comment on her choice of weaponry, not when she was the girl who carried her ax everywhere she went. “You ready?”
