“Dude!” Wendy squealed when Tambry dumped water on her. She knew she’d dared her to do it, but she didn’t Tam would actually go through with it. Laughing, she pushed the wet hair from her face. “That was awesome!”
Tambry scoffed at the suggestion, brushing aside some stray hairs as she plopped down into a nearby chair. “And risk getting a bad camera shot because we ended up moving out of frame? No way, dude. This girl’s staying dry.” Of course, she’d be lying if she said she didn’t want to partake in the foolish activity. She just wasn’t looking forward to having to convince her father she was fine when she came home with a bundle of cold, wet clothes and lower than normal body temperature.
Wendy brought up their other friends and she beamed, nodding vigorously at the thought of the entire group getting together. Things had been fairly weird after the messy breakup, the gloomy boy having tucked himself away from the world and seemingly only spending time with Tambry. As much as she loved having him to herself, it was frustrating to not be able to drag him to any of their group functions for fear of running into his ex.
Unfortunately, the redhead seemed to change her mind, poking the tiniest of holes in Tambry’s spirits. She wasn’t going to give up that easily though. “Come on, man, Robs would agree to anything if I promised him dessert afterwards. You know how big his sweet tooth is. We don’t have to trick him. Especially since, you know, he’s a lot faster than any of us. I don’t think we could catch him by surprise.”
Wendy had felt guilty for creating a rift in their group, but she didn’t want to see Robbie. It wasn’t that she had anything against him—she was over the whole attempted brain controlling thing—but he wasn’t over her. She didn’t mean to put the rest of the group in the crosshairs, but Wendy felt it was a necessary evil. She wasn’t going to allow Robbie to keep chasing after her. It wasn’t that she was afraid that she’d eventually give in, but it was so sad to her once best friend act so pathetic and clingy.
"Yeah, you’re totally right. You’d have to do the talking, though.“ She laughed and finished drying herself off. Pushing back a stray lock of wet hair behind her ear, Wendy turned serious. She was only too aware that talking about Robbie was weird; she didn’t want their conversations to always be about her ex. "Sorry for bringing him up, Tam. I know things have been, like, super awkward lately, and I’m sorry. Is he doing okay?”

“Not even close! Hell, Robs and I both ran literal circles around the guy’s golf cart when he recognized him the other...

"Did they ever catch him?” Considering how fast Robbie ran, Wendy doubted it, but she was still interested all the same....
