Wendy didn’t know what possessed her to take a walk to the cemetery one chilly and foggy morning, but walk she did. Her hands jammed into her pockets, she was surprised to see she wasn’t the only one at the usually vacant graveyard. As she took a few more steps deeper into the lot, the redhead found Lulu near one of the graves. She felt almost as if she had come across something she shouldn’t, as if she had interrupted something.
She turned to leave and was planning on making a quiet exit when she stepped on a twig. The stick snapped sharply underneath her heavy boot and Wendy stopped dead in her tracks. If Lulu didn’t know she was there before, she certainly knew she was now.
